By Mother's Day weekend, every farmers market on the peninsula will be open. The hero above ranks all nine, with day, hours, and a one-line take on each, so you can pick one for Saturday or run a five-market loop without opening nine different websites.
Asparagus is in. Rhubarb is in. The first Skagit strawberries are starting to land at table tents. Some quick notes on the season ahead:
Poulsbo (Sat 10–2) and Bainbridge (Sat 10–2) are the longest seasons, both running through November.
Port Orchard (Sat 9–2) hosts the Seagull Calling Contest on May 9. Yes, that is a real thing. Yes, prizes.
Bremerton (Thu 4–7) opens May 7, the only weeknight option in Kitsap.
Kingston (Sun 10–3) and Seabeck (1st & 3rd Sun 12–4) round out the lineup, both opening this issue's window.

Two More Markets Open in the Next Two Weeks
The Bremerton Community Farmers Market kicks off May 7 at Evergreen Rotary Park, Thursdays 4–7pm, running through October. Three days later, the Kingston Public Market opens Sunday May 10 right by the ferry terminal, Sundays 10–3. With those two, every weekly market on the peninsula is officially live for 2026.
Two New Taverns and Late Fridays Coming to Charleston
Bremerton's Charleston District has two taverns coming this year: Two Rivers Tavern and Centuries Past Tavern. Alongside, a new monthly Callow Nights kicks off on the third Friday of each month, with shops open late and live music up and down Callow Avenue. Worth keeping an eye on.
Pop-Up Shops Coming to Empty Bremerton Storefronts
The City of Bremerton just approved a 60-day pop-up program for vacant downtown spaces, timed to draw foot traffic during the FIFA World Cup. Curated for makers, artists, and first-time retailers testing a brick-and-mortar before signing a lease. If you've ever thought "I should just open a tiny shop," sixty days with no lease is the easy way to test it.

A week of intensive workshops with visiting instructors across BARN's studios. Final sessions wrap May 1, but the public studio days are usually open to walk through.
Indianola Vintage Market | May 2

A one-day pop-up of vintage and antique vendors at the historic clubhouse. The drive from Suquamish to Indianola is also a reason on its own.
Poulsbo Garden Club Plant Sale | May 2

Perennials, dahlia tubers, houseplants, veggie starts, native shrubs and small trees, plus a garden boutique full of pots, tools, and flags. First 100 shoppers get free seeds. Sixty-five percent of proceeds fund the club's community garden grants. Solid Mother's Day gift run.
Seabeck Community Market: Opening Day | May 3

The smallest market on Hood Canal opens for the season. It's only first and third Sundays, so the next one after this is May 17. Pair with the Hoodsport low tide and call it a Sunday.

Thursday evenings, water at your back, dinner from a food truck. The only weeknight market in Kitsap.

An annual SK Chamber bit. People stand on a stage and call seagulls. The seagulls do not always cooperate. Bring kids.

McCormick Woods Golf Club, Port Orchard. The annual buffet is generous and reliable: lemon dill salmon, rib eye, the full pastry table. Reservations recommended.
EDEN Nightclub, Bremerton. Brunch with Eugenie Jones and her jazz quartet. 21+, mimosa included, advance tickets only.
Sweet Life Cakery, Kingston. Tea-party kits with shortbread, gourmet tea, and a sweet bliss cake. Order by Wed May 7 for May 11 pickup.
Kingston Public Market opens at 10am. Five steps off the ferry to flowers, berries, and bread. New-this-year, easy to combine with anything else on this list.

· The first Skagit strawberries are showing up at table tents. They're small. They taste like strawberries are supposed to taste.
· The Hood Canal oyster window is wide open Saturday through Tuesday. Lowest daylight tides we'll see this issue. See The Tides below.
· Multi-ride pass holders: starting May 1, your 10-trip pass is good for 120 days instead of 90. Small thing, real money.
 | Hidden Gem: Anderson Landing Preserve |
Off Anderson Hill Road in Silverdale, the preserve is a quiet 60-acre patch most people drive past on their way to bigger trails. Right now it's at peak. The lower loop drops you through a corridor of trillium, fawn lily, and bleeding heart, and the spur trail ends at a bluff with a Hood Canal overlook that always feels disproportionate to the effort. The whole loop is under two miles, mostly flat, dog-friendly. Park at the small lot off Anderson Hill, go counterclockwise so you save the view for last, and get there before 10am if you want it to yourself.

Bremerton-Seattle: Two boats are back. The Kaleetan has returned to service and is running the 9:50am Bremerton departure, restoring full two-boat service to the route. Capacity and frequency are back to normal.
Kingston-Edmonds: Same drill as last issue. Seismic retrofit at the terminal continues through July 2026, with 20–30 minute delays on the 9:40pm Kingston departure Tuesdays through Thursdays. SR 104 lane work near Lindvog Road is also adding weekday delays at the terminal approach.
Fares go up May 1. A 3% systemwide fare increase takes effect May 1, plus a 35% peak surcharge on single-ride vehicle and motorcycle fares through September 30. Walk-on fares are not affected. If you drive on for weekend trips this summer, plan for the bump. Multi-ride passes also extend from 90 to 120 days starting May 1.
